The official list is out, so glad to see some familiar faces this year for the best #trolls in the Data Science and AI communities. Congrats! Better luck next year for those trolls that didn’t collect enough tears!

Top LinkedIn trolls in AI

I am debuting the 1st annual TROLL Voices list, a collection of trolls. As COVID-19 continues to upend our lives, these members are using their voices to slap us awake, speak-it like-it-is, and sometimes irk us into emotional tantrums we have to delete later.

To compile the list, we used a combination of qualitative and quantitative signals — including whiney factor, blocking frequency, swear words, snowflake-snow-depth, and engagement by the Michael Jackson eating popcorn memes. You can learn more about the methodology by asking me in the comments….

Below you’ll find this year’s standout trolls in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, just 10 of the hundreds of Top TROLLs highlighted around the world. No matter your profession, you will improve your trolling by deepening your understanding of these weaknesses in the AI community. These people are standing on the frozen iceberg of nerd tears.

Check out this year’s #LinkedInTrollVoices in Data Science and AI — and follow them to stay plugged into the online fits.

What he talks about: Funny memes, his soon-to-be trillion dollar empire, when scientists fail, 420 jokes, trolling short sellers. He recently was able to get enough attention to get this news article written about him: https://gizmodo.com/report-elon-musk-is-kind-of-a-dick-1845645538. Can any of you say you’ve trolled $16B dollars worth and only had to pay a $20M fine? Can you? He is the king, take us to Mars Elon!

What he talks about: Teaches AI and ML on YouTube in an extreme extroverted way. It is great, people learn complex things and he has earned a big following. But then he did some stuff that cost people a bunch of money, you can go read about it on Reddit.

What he talks about: How much data science is over-hyped, often sharing witty posts dripping with sarcasm and data memes to make his points crystal clear to all who stumble upon his #DataWithDanny hashtag. Also shares lots of free Udemy courses to repent for past trolling sins so you can drop out of college and learn skills on the cheap! Wait, what is happening?

What he talks about: All things AI, I’ve seen him take some jabs online against crappy companies and products on the market. He is seasoned in the AI markets and he can speak some brutal truth bombs, he isn’t going to sugar coat anything.

What he talks about: He trolled a troll into submission. Ben Taylor said “AutoML makes idiots fail faster”, then months later when it was announced that Ben sold his company to an AutoML company Srivatsan parroted back “idiots fail faster…”. Trollception, bravo. Srivatsan might look mean, but he is quite nice on his YouTube channel.

What he talks about: Some people like to troll but Thomas would never consider doing such a thing.

What he talks about: He said the robot citizen of Saudi Arabia (Sophia) was “…complete bullsh*t” on Twitter.

What he talks about: “Data scientists are like leeches…” or “This is why your data scientist sucks…, he loves #Tensorflow too. I bet he has a TF1.0 tattoo somewhere. Stop staring at yourself Ben Taylor

What she talks about: your dirty data and why you fail at finding value on your own…

What he talks about: he drops truth bombs on the AI community. 20% of the community freaks out and complains about how rude he is. The rest of the community loves him for it and agrees with most of his points, except the ones where he makes fun of Tesla… Elon (Troll kings) empire. Andriy repented for some of the heavier trolling by writing two AI books for the people he trolled. The books were so well written they ended up being very popular. In between the truth bombs he soothes his audiences with beautiful architecture photos to help distract them.

How we compiled the Top Voices is: To compile the list, we use a combination of quantitative and qualitative signals inside by brain. I can’t show them or share them so you just have to trust me.

All discussions on this ranking took place over a 40-min period last night. As with all LinkedIn Lists, we included current LinkedIn and Microsoft employees from consideration, as well as any members who are being or have been paid by LinkedIn to participate in brand campaigns or courses.
